RF Venue Antenna Systems: Improve Your Wireless Microphone Reliability

3 min read

Why Your Wireless Mics Need Better Antennas

The biggest factor in wireless microphone reliability (after frequency coordination) is antenna quality and placement. The small rubber antennas on the back of most receivers are adequate for short distances in clean RF environments, but in crowded venues, multi-system setups, or long-range applications, upgrading to professional antennas from RF Venue can eliminate dropouts entirely.

RF Spotlight: Nearfield Floor Antenna

The RF Spotlight is a low-profile floor pad antenna that enables wireless mics to function reliably in the most crowded RF environments. It is only 7mm thin and can be placed under wood stages, offstage, under a carpet, or wherever convenient to limit foot traffic and maximize signal-to-noise ratio.

Its elliptically polarized element works at any orientation, and typical range at 10 mW transmitter power is approximately 100 feet in diameter. Perfect for stages, hotel breakout rooms, conventions, and church sanctuaries where multiple wireless systems must operate across facilities and open channels are limited.

CP Beam: High Gain Directional Antenna

The patented CP Beam is a high-performance, directional UHF antenna in a lightweight, portable package. Unlike other bulky helical antennas that require flight cases, the CP Beam folds flat and fits in a 2RU rack drawer at just 2.5 lbs. With 9 dBd of gain, it is ideal for long-range applications and is widely used on major concert tours for monitoring and communications.

Diversity Fin: The All-Purpose Antenna Upgrade

The patented Diversity Fin is the most popular RF Venue product. It combines one LPDA and one dipole antenna in an orthogonal (right angle) configuration. One element captures vertically polarized waves and the other captures horizontally polarized waves, doing the same job as two “shark fin” paddle antennas while improving RF and audio performance.

The Diversity Fin connects both A and B outputs on any antenna distributor or receiver. It has found widespread adoption across live sound, film and TV production, and installations in schools and churches.

DISTRO4: Antenna Distribution System

DISTRO4 is a broadband UHF antenna distribution amplifier that routes antenna signals from a pair of diversity antennas to several receivers in a multi-channel system. It compensates for signal strength lost in the splitting process with high-quality amplifiers. Two or more units can be cascaded together to accommodate more than four receivers.

DISTRO4 features an internal 2000 mA power supply (no wall wart) and includes all RF and DC power cables needed to connect a 4-channel wireless microphone system.
